Admission requirements

Dear Applicants,
You are cordially welcome to apply for admission to the Varna Medical University for the academic year 2010/2011. Please, note the following information:

  • Admission criteria

  • As the program for medical studies in English is limited in terms of number of students, we consider only applications which fulfill all requirements and students are admitted on the basis of their results stated in the High School Diploma (the grade scale is required) and the result from the English for Academic Medical Studies exam.

    Courses in chemistry and biology in high school as well as good grades in these subjects are obligatory for admission. Applicants must sit for English for Academic Medical Studies exam at the University. The administration fee for the test is 200 Euro.

    Those students who failed the test in English for Academic Medical Studies have an opportunity to be enrolled in a preparatory Medical English course at the university. The preparatory course starts:

    • 1.XII.2010
    • 10.I.2011

    Medical studies in English are full-time only. The annual tuition fee for foreign citizens can be paid in one or two instalments (at the beginning of the academic year or at the beginning of every semester). The tuition fee for the academic year 2010/2011 will be 6900 Euro.

    Students are enrolled in the program for medical studies in English on condition that they fulfil the requirements mentioned above and submission of the receipt for payment of the tuition fee.

  • Application documents

  • All applicants’ documents are approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sofia. For these purposes we should receive the following documents by registered mail not later than September 15th 2009: All documents have to be accompanied by a legalized translation into Bulgarian certified by an approved institution.

    1. COMPLETED APPLICATION FORM
    2. COPY OF THE HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA duly legalised by the Bulgarian Embassy in applicant's country (original wet stamps and seals - Apostille required) and translated into Bulgarian.
    3. COPY OF THE HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA SUPPLEMENT duly legalised by the Bulgarian Embassy in the applicant's country (original wet stamps and seals - Apostille required) and translated into Bulgarian.
    4. An obligatory requirement is for the applicant to have taken biology and chemistry courses in high school and the average score of those two subjects is required to be not less than 62% of the maximum results in accordance with the grading system in the respective country.

    5. AN ORIGINAL MEDICAL HEALTH CERTIFICATE, issued not earlier than 1 (one) month before the date of application, stating that the applicant is physically and mentally healthy legalised by the Bulgarian Embassy in Applicant’s country (original wet stamps and seals – Apostille required) and accompanied by its translation in Bulgarian.
    6. A DECLARATION BY THE APPLICANT`S PARENT(S) FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT during his/her studies in the Republic of Bulgaria accompanied by its translation in Bulgarian. The declaration is required to be legalized by a Notary Public.
    7. C.V. (RESUME) SIGNED BY THE APPLICANT
    8. FOUR PHOTOGRAPHS (PASSPORT SIZE)
    9. A DOCUMENT ISSUED BY AN AUTHORIZED BODY (THE APPLICANT’S HIGH SCHOOL) certifying the right of the applicant to continue his/her education in higher schools in the country in which the latter has acquired his/her secondary education (or for applicants from the Republic of Turkey - Certificate issued by YOK that the applicants have passed the matriculations (entrance exams) in Turkey).
    10. A copy of the applicant’s passport (identity card)duly legalised by the Bulgarian Embassy in applicant's country (original wet stamps and seals - Apostille required) and translated into Bulgarian.
