Bachelor and master study

 

THE COUNTRY

On August 26, 1992, the leaders of Czecho-Slovakia agreed to the peaceful division of the country into two independent nations, scheduled to take effect January 1, 1993.

THE FACULTY

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU) is a diverse, cosmopolitan community. While 90 % of the 2500 students come from Slovakia, students also come form 40 countries beyond the borders of Slovakia. In our study program in the English language, nearly 50 teachers and scholars bring to our students the knowledge and experience they have gained from research at the world's finest universities. Experts in their fields, professors bring the most current knowledge and technology to their classrooms. Study programs are completely equivalent to the same programs in Slovak Language.

Role and mission

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as a segment of STU is responsible for offering a wide range of Bc., MSc. and PhD. program.

College calendar

We operate on a semester system. The first (fall) semester begins in September and ends in December. The second (spring) semester begins in February (after the examination period) and ends in May.

Beginning Academic Year 1997-98 and to be familiar with University education providing in EC countries we started to operate on credit system.

Courses leading to the Bachelor/Engineer degree:

Bachelor's program lasts three years, and MSc. study lasts another two years. A title given after the successful completion of the entire program is "Engineer". The credit system makes possible also the professional self-profiling of the student's orientation. The study is completed by the first State Examination including presentation of the Term Project. The given title is Bachelor (Bc).

After completion bachelors program a student may enter our Engineer study. The significant part of courses are optional. This study gives to students a deep contemporary theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field. The study is finished by the second State Examination which consists of the defending of the Diploma thesis and the oral State Examination. Courses are provided in Slovak/English language.

General programs leading to the title are as follows:

  2. Industrial Informatics
  3. Telecommunications
  4. Electronics

Nondiscrimination policy

The policy of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava that discrimination against any individual for reason of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status or handicap is specifically prohibited by the law of Slovak Republic and the STU –Administration.

Student responsibility

It is the responsibility of the student to be familiar with the information presented in Student's Code of Conduct, and to know and observe all regulations and procedures relating to the program he/she is pursuing.

Admission

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is open to all students who have passed a High School program whose requirements for graduation are substantially the same as corresponding High Schools in Slovakia. Students are mainly selected on the basis of their preparation and ability in Mathematics and Physics.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Application forms (pdf, 15kB) are available from the Studies Office, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Ilkovicova 3, 812 19 Bratislava. These should be completed and returned to the Studies Office at least two months before the semester begins (usually at the end of August). They are also available on this web page.
  2. Applicants must submit to the Studies Office an official transcript of grades, credits earned or mark sheets (the records of courses and marks earned), requested from the Registrar at each school, college, or university previously attended. Photocopies cannot be used, and transcripts must be in English language. Within the specified deadline, applicants must also fulfill any additional requirements or procedures requested by the Faculty to present his/her satisfactory knowledge in a specific area.
  3. A nonrefundable application fee of 30 EUR is required of all new foreign applicants for study in either the English or Slovak language.
  4. All international applicants must apply for Students Visas.
  5. Due to the lack of vacancies in our dormitory, we recommend early application in order to compensate for the time needed to mail and process your material.
